Jessica Simpson is reflecting on society’s years-long preoccupation with her weight – something she said she’s never gotten used to.
“I mean, would any woman (be used to it)?” the 42-year-old singer, whose fashion empire includes shoes, clothing, accessories and more, told Extra in a new interview.
Simpson noted that as bothered as she is by the world weighing in on her body, she knew it was likely to plague her. She also received some words of wisdom from Lynda Carter, who starred as Wonder Woman in the 1970s.
“On the set of Dukes Of Hazzard, she was like, ‘I will always be Wonder Woman and compared to Wonder Woman. And that’s what you’re doing here as Daisy Duke. And just know that even the words Daisy Duke will follow you for the rest of your career,’” Simpson recalled.
“I’ve been criticised and it hurts but I’ve been every weight and I’ve been proud of it. I decided, OK, everybody’s gonna talk about my weight all the time, I might as well make money off of it and turn it into a business of selling clothes and acceptance.”
She said following her most recent weight loss that she does “feel like my old self before I had children and all the hormones going wild. I feel younger actually. I feel younger, I have a lot more energy.” – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
