Indonesia’s singing sensation Afgan will be making his debut at the Kuching Jazz Festival 2022, which will be held at the Grand Margherita Hotel on Oct 28 and 29.

Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said Indonesian performers had been crowd pullers in the past three music festivals here.

"Afgan has quite a big fan base in Malaysia and also locally in Sarawak and his name has been requested by fans of the jazz festival for many years.

"After three successful festivals since 2017, we are finally able to fulfil this request and bring Afgan to Kuching,” he said at the Kuching Jazz Festival press conference at Tribes Jazz and Raggae Lounge recently.

Abdul Karim said the festival will also feature artistes and bands from Singapore, Australia and Thailand, and more artistes will be revealed in the coming weeks.

"This year will be the fourth edition of the jazz festival, and we are excited to create a memorable event for all festival goers,” he added.

Kuching Jazz, formerly known as Kuching Waterfront Jazz Festival, was started in 2017 by the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation, as a platform to nurture and inspire local music talents by bringing in international performers.

More information on the event and ticket purchase can be found at Kuching Jazz official Facebook, Instagram page and at www.kuchingjazz.com. – Bernama
