No routers in the building?
Selena Gomez has done the seemingly impossible – avoided going online for more than four years.
“I haven’t been on the Internet for 4½ years,” the 29-year-old Only Murders In The Building star told Good Morning America on Monday (April 4). “It has changed my life completely.”
The Rare singer shared the impressive feat while promoting mental health platform, Wondermind, also launched by Gomez’s mother and Newsette co-founder Daniella Pierson.
“I am happier, I am more present,” said Gomez. “I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal.”
Gomez has been outspoken in the past about her health – both mental and physical.
In early 2020, she shared on fellow former Disney Channel star Miley Cyrus’ Instagram show, Bright Minded: Live, that she is bipolar, and shared that she had previously received treatment at a Boston-area psychiatric hospital.
“After years of going through a lot of different things, I realised that I was bipolar,” said Gomez at the time, noting that “more information... actually helps me. It doesn’t scare me once I know it.”
Later that year, Gomez, who has also spoken about her battle with lupus, shared a photo on social media of the scar from the kidney transplant surgery she underwent in 2017.
“I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar,” Gomez wrote at the time. “I didn’t want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up. Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through... and I’m proud of that.” – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
The singer, however, seems to be quite active on Instagram.
