Marvel Studios has revealed the trailer for the upcoming series Ms. Marvel, which features the studios’ first Muslim superhero.
The new original series will be available on Disney+ Hotstar starting from June 8.
The six-episode series centres on Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani American girl living in Jersey City as she “tries to balance high school life, her family and her emerging super powers”.
Kamala is played by newcomer Iman Vellani, who was cast after an extensive search. She’s joined by Saagar Shaik, who plays Kamala's older brother Aamir, Mohan Kapur (Crime Next Door), Zenobia Shroff (The Big Sick) and Matt Lintz (The Walking Dead).
Into The Badlands star Aramis Knight portrays the vigilante known as Red Dagger.
The official synopsis further describes Kamala as someone who doesn't fit in at school and sometimes even at home.
An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a superhero mega fan particularly of Captain Marvel.
Will life get better with super powers?
According to reports, Kamala is set to appear in The Marvels, the sequel to Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, which is scheduled to premiere in February 2023.
