Malaysian actress Vanidah Imran has added another feather in her cap after earning her Master's degree in Performing Arts (Drama).
She was among 7,682 students who received degrees at Universiti Malaya’s 61st convocation ceremony, held at the Tunku Chancellor Hall yesterday (March 14).
On her Instagram page, Vanidah said her Master's degree is dedicated to her father, Imran Abdullah @ Indiran Koothayan.
“My father was pursuing his Masters when my arwah mak (late mother) fell ill and was diagnosed with cancer. I was three years old, and my brother was only 10 months when my mother passed away.
"Juggling with work and taking care of my brother and me (with the help of my late grandmother), not to mention going through grief after my mother’s passing, took a toll on him hence he couldn’t continue his masters," Vanidah, 49, wrote.
“Abah, I am who I am today because of your unconditional love. Thank you Abah for being strict when it came to jaga maruah diri dan keluarga (looking after the family and my reputation). May Allah bless you with a prolonged life and good health as I continue with my next journey for my PhD,” Vanidah continued.
The Penang-born beauty also thanked her children Mikhail Aimran, 21, and Maryam Rashika, 18, for being her pillar of strength.
Her post received overwhelming support and positive comments from peers and fans.

In 2015, Vanidah earned a degree in English Studies from Open University Malaysia.
Vanidah is best known for starring in Perempuan Melayu Terakhir, Tujuh Perhentian, Cinta, Sepi, Setem and The Red Kebaya, for which she won the Best Actress award at the 20th Malaysian Film Festival (2007).
