Malaysia-born Singaporean actor Lawrence Wong believes in sharing his good fortune, especially with those working for him.

The actor, who is based in Beijing, revealed that he will be giving S$3,000 (RM9,300) angpow to his staff in the upcoming Chinese New Year because he has had a good year.

“This year I might have earned a little more, so maybe each person will get $3,000?” he said in an interview on the Singapore online show #JustSwipeLah. For sake of clarification, the host of the show asked Wong which currency is he referring to and the actor replied: "Singapore dollars."

The actor's co-star in his new film Reunion Dinner, Das Dharamahsena – who was also a guest on the show – joked that he, too, wanted to work for Wong.

Another co-star Xiang Yun agreed that Wong should reward his staff.

"When you earn more, it means everyone worked hard alongside you," Xiang Yun said on #JustSwipeLah.

Wong, who starred in the China blockbuster series Story Of Yanxi Palace, added that the amount he gives out depended on how much he had earned the year before.
