Mean Girls' star Lacey Chabert reveals 'shocking loss' of sister: 'Our hearts are shattered'

Mean Girls star Lacey Chabert mourning the loss of a family member. The actress, who first broke-through as Claudia Salinger on Fox's drama Party Of Five, is mourning her older sister, Wendy.

Chabert shared the tragic news with her Instagram followers on Nov 23.

"My beautiful sister, Wendy," Chabert captioned a portrait of her sister. "Our hearts are shattered into a million pieces that I don't know how we will ever put back together again now that you're gone. We love and adore you more than we can ever say and we will continue to forever and ever and ever.

"The shocking loss has left us so broken hearted," Chabert continued. "Our lives will never be the same without my dear sister, but we cling to the promises of Jesus that we will be together again in eternity. Please keep our family, especially her two boys, in your hearts and prayers. Thank you so much"

Chabert, 39, has been a staple in Hallmark movies in recent years. The official account for the network expressed its sympathies in the photo's comments: "We are so deeply sorry for your loss. Sending our love and strength to you and your family during this time."

Chabert's Party Of Five co-star Scott Wolf, who played her onscreen big brother, expressed his sadness. "Beyond heartbroken for you and your family," he posted. "Sending you so much love."

Sister, Sister star Tamera Mowry also expressed her condolences: "Oh dear Lacey! I'm so so sorry!!!!!!! Praying for you, Wendy's family and your family!" As did Mowry's brother, "Smart Guy" lead Tahj Mowry. "So sorry Lacey sending love and I pray God sends his healing power to you and your family," he wrote.

The View co-host Sara Haines commented that she was "so so sorry to read" the news. "Thinking of all of you and sending so much love and strength your way."

Chabert recently celebrated her sisters in an Aug 2 Instagram tribute. "Couldn't let #nationalsistersday pass without saying how much I love my two sisters," the actress captioned a photo of the trio posing in front of a Christmas tree.
