The new reality competition series AXN Ultimate Challenge Indonesia pits two teams, led by artistes Afgan and Isyana Sarasvati, against each other as they travel across Indonesia completing daredevil challenges while showcasing the country’s beautiful sights.
During an exclusive interview with StarLifestyle recently, Afgan shared his excitement when he was approached to do the show.
“When I found out that Isyana was going to be there, I became even more excited because we are pretty close friends and I thought it would be great to spend 10 days exploring the different spots of Indonesia with some of your closest friends,” the singer shared.
The star was also familiar with the show as he had seen the Ultimate Challenge series set in other countries.
When asked if he had to face any of his fears during his time on the show, the Sabar singer admitted that he was terrified of heights. His fear was put to the test during a challenge that required him to flyboard.
He recalled: “It’s quite scary, it’s very high but I’m glad I conquered the fear. If not, I would be thinking about why I didn’t do it. I think it was my favourite challenge out of all that we did.”
Afgan also revealed that many of the challenges were physical activities. Some experiences involved teams having to swim inside a cave at night and learning to surf, which he joked was “quite embarrassing because I cannot do it at all!”
As he was not told about the activities beforehand, the singer had no time to prepare but instead attempted them on the spot.
When asked for a suggestion of places to visit in Indonesia, Afgan said the top on the list would have to be Labuan Bajo. "People aren’t really aware of Labuan Bajo yet. So, I really want to encourage people to travel there because it’s beautiful. There are a lot of activities that you can do, lively culture (shows) and the food is amazing,” he explained.
AXN Ultimate Challenge Indonesia premieres tonight (Nov 25) at 8.30pm on AXN (Astro Ch 701).
