On Tuesday (Oct 26), Korean media outlet Dispatch revealed a totally different take on the abortion scandal involving actor Kim Seon-ho and his former girlfriend.

The Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha star’s reputation and career was jeopardised last week when the ex-girlfriend – identified as a former weather presenter and current influencer – wrote a post on Oct 17 claiming that Kim had manipulated her into getting an abortion.

She further claimed that he treated her differently after the incident.

Soon after the scandal was reported by the media, Kim issued an apology letter to the ex-girlfriend stating: “I hurt her due to my carelessness and inconsiderate actions.”

Now, the Dispatch’s report outlines the actor’s side of the story from text conversations allegedly provided by Kim’s friends.

The report concludes that Kim was the one who was taken advantage of in the relationship and that he was a dedicated boyfriend after she had the abortion, taking care of her for two weeks including cooking seaweed soup for her.

Apparently, the couple came to the decision to terminate the pregnancy after discussing it together.

The friends also alleged that Kim stayed in the relationship after the unplanned pregnancy and was serious enough to introduce her to his parents. They claimed he even forgave her when she lied to him and met with other men while they were dating.

They further alleged that Kim never attempted to hide his relationship from the people around them, which is the opposite to what the ex-girlfriend claimed.

The report states that the couple called it quits after a series of “unbrearable” situations including the girlfriend allegedly keeping images and video content of Kim on her personal devices, having to deal with her being threatened by gang members and being harassed by her ex-husband.

Due to the scandal, Kim lost endorsement deals and a few acting gigs.

With Dispatch’s latest report, netizens are taking Kim’s side, praising him for keeping quiet on the ground that he didn’t want to draw out the private matter in public any further.

A Korean news portal mentioned a few netizens’ comments: "He really loved her, this is so sad,"; "I think Kim Seon-ho is amazing if he stayed silent without explaining all this – if this is true," and "I knew it. The guy divorced her just after 17 days."
