While some celebrities choose to throw lavish parties to celebrate their birthdays, Korean actress Kim-Yoo-jung decided she wanted to do something more meaningful instead this year.

The star, who turned 22 on Sept 22, donated 30mil won (RM105,000) to ChildFund Korea. The children's foundation revealed this detail on Oct 1.

Kim has regularly helped children over the years, giving aid to those require medical treatment or those who live in households affected by the pandemic. She also joined the Green Noble Club in 2020, which has donated millions towards the cause. Her latest donation will be used to pay for the living and medical expenses of young children who were victims of crime.

Lee Je-hoon, president of Childfund Korea, said in an interview: "During this difficult time when Covid-19 has made it even harder for children who are victims of crime to sustain themselves, we are grateful to actress Kim Yoo-jung, who has warmheartedly participated in giving.” He added that the organisation will be working closely with the actress to ensure that these children can recover and return to their normal lives.

The 22-year-old currently plays the role of Hong Chun-gi in the hit fantasy drama Lovers Of The Red Sky.
