Malaysian Army, rejoice!

The first ever exclusive BTS pop-up store in Malaysia officially opens today (Sept 8) in 1 Utama Shopping Centre, in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Army, as fans of the South Korean supergroup are called, will now be able to browse and shop over 300 official merchandise to add to their collection.

These range from limited edition apparel, accessories, bags, wallets, figurines, posters, stationery and lifestyle products offered at the BTS Pop-up Showcase. There will also be a special corner dedicated to exclusive Dynamite-themed items that are only available at the venue itself. The megahit Dynamite, released in August last year, is the band's first song fully recorded in English and garnered BTS its first Grammy nomination.

The BTS Pop-up and retail operations will run until Jan 31, 2022. The experiential space occupying 3,300 sq ft (306 sq m) can be found on the ground floor of 1 Utama, and is in line with the shopping mall’s expansion plans of bringing in a series of Korean attractions to its Korean-themed retail zone “District K”.

To comply with Covid-19 SOP, admission is strictly for fully vaccinated visitors only during Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the national recovery plan. A virtual queue system will be provided at the entrance counter to ensure a maximum of 30 patrons in at any given time and allow for social distancing between visitors and staff. Visitors who register at the entrance will be notified by SMS once it is their turn to enter the store, which is open from 10am to 8pm daily.

Malaysia is the next country following South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines to feature the showcase which draws concepts from BTS’ fourth studio album Map Of The Soul: 7.

BTS, an acronym of Bangtan Sonyeondan or “Beyond the Scene”, is a K-pop boy band that has captured the hearts of millions of fans globally since their debut in June 2013. The biggest music group in the world right now, BTS – comprising RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook – not only top music charts, but also imparts positive messages in its lyrics and activities, and has spoken at the United Nations General Assembly twice on self-love and empowering youths.

Its most recent single, Permission To Dance, is the group's fifth song to reach No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 when it was released in July this year.
