Fans of K-pop group Girls' Generation were delighted when all eight members got together for the first time in almost four years for a TV appearance.
The members – Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun – appeared on the Korean variety show You Quiz On The Block on Wednesday (Sept 1) and updated their fans on what they have been up to.
They shared with hosts Jo Se-ho and Yoo Jae-suk on how packed their schedules used to be at the height of their career. Sunny recalled having to travel 12 hours to Australia for a performance before taking a midnight flight back to Korea for another performance.
The girls then went on to discuss the age gap between them and other younger artistes in South Korea.
Yuri shared that younger singers would tell them that, "My mother was a huge fan of SNSD". Girls' Generation made its debut in 2007, and is also known as SNSD.
Yoona said she once saw an online post stating, "Girls’ Generation’s skinny jeans are the pants my mum used to wear".
The interview turned serious when member Taeyeon – who was the first to debut as a solo artiste – shared the difficulty of staying slim during their early days.
“Dieting was so difficult,” she said. “I had to sing, but they would tell me my body had to be skinny too, but losing the weight didn’t happen easily.”
Seohyun attempted to lighten the mood by saying she had to hide chocolate from their managers who didn't want them to eat.
As the episode went on, host Jo made it a point to ask a question all fans are dying to know – will Girls’ Generation make a comeback soon?
Yoona replied with a big smile on her face: "We’re always open to it.”
Time to dust off your skinny jeans.
