In the late 1990s and in the 2000s, Flora Chan was a popular TVB actress appearing in dramas such as Triumph In The Skies, Family Man and Feminine Masculinity.

She took a break from showbiz when she got married in 2006, and became a mother to a baby girl.

In 2012, after her husband filed for bankruptcy, Chan did attempt a comeback to the Hong Kong entertainment industry and even worked as a producer for three years.

Now it looks like the 51-year-old has made a complete career switch – it’s reported that she has taken on the job of an English teacher.

Netizens recently discovered that Chan's name and photo were posted on the official website of an English training centre in Shenzhen, China. She's listed as a lecturer who gives face-to-face lessons.

If you're wondering is Chan qualified to teach, she has a degree in communications at Boston College, Massachusetts, the United States. She also has had experience as a host for TVB’s English programming.

The American is also said to be pursuing a PhD in English at Hong Kong University.

According to a report by jaynestars.com, some netizens commented that the actress has "fallen from grace" while others theorised that she had to change her profession in order to support her family.

But many also saw Chan’s move as a positive thing, praising her for letting go of her old life and starting anew in a totally different world.
