Malaysian Artistes’ Association (Karyawan) has released a statement claiming that the plan to form new collecting bodies in Sabah and Sarawak is due to failure of existing bodies to adequately protect members’ rights.

This is in line with artistes’ royalty collection currently done by three existing bodies namely Public Performance Malaysia (PPM), Recording Performers Malaysia (RPM), Music Authors Copyright Protection (MACP).
