In his previous outing, Sweet Home, K-drama heartthrob Song Kang slays monsters. Then in the second season of Love Alarm, he fights for love. In his latest series, Navillera, Song Kang gets into the groove, so to speak.

In the K-drama based on the webtoon of the same name, the 26-year-old plays a young ballet dancer who is on the verge of giving up his dream of dancing when he meets a 70-year-old retiree who decides to pursue his life-long dream of learning ballet. Together, they inspire one another.

To look convincing as a dancer in the series, Song Kang immersed himself in ballet for close to half a year in preparation. He says in a virtual press conference to promote the show: “I had a lot of concerns about taking on the role of a ballerino. It was important to pay attention to the overall lines of the body.

"I learned ballet for about five to six months. Rather than any high-level or expert skills, I focused on lines and details. I’m an actor and I like seeing my body change, so I had fun doing it.”

New episodes of Navillera are available every Monday and Tuesday at 10pm on Netflix.
