Although Roh is out of the 2021 Oscars race, the Malaysian film has caught the attention of British director Edgar Wright.

On March 2, Wright, best known for helming the critically-acclaimed 2004 zombie comedy Shaun Of The Dead, took to Twitter to highlight a list of films he has recently seen including Roh.

The film's production house, Kuman Pictures, then thanked Wright for watching Roh to which Wright replied: "Amazing stuff. Congrats."

Roh is Emir Ezwan's first feature film. It tells the story of a family whose lives are upended with the arrival of a mysterious young girl at their doorstep.

The film was screened at various international film festivals including the Singapore Film Festival (November 2019), Indonesia’s Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival (November 2019), Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy (July 2020), New York Asian Film Festival in the United States (September 2020) as well as Italy’s TOHorror Fantastic Film Fest in October 2020.

The horror flick is Malaysia's official entry for the 2021 Oscars Best International Feature Film category. Unfortunately, it did not make the Top 15 shortlist.
