Hong Kong celebrity couple Tavia Yeung and Him Law have changed their Chinese names!
The two, who welcomed their first child last April, made the announcement on social media on Oct 26.
The 41-year-old actress will now go by Yeung Sin-yiu (previously Yeung Yi). Her 36-year-old husband will now be called Law Chi-yik (previously Law Chung-him). Their English names remain the same.
In a joint statement, the couple said they arrived at the decision together and ultimately changed their names for the good of their family.
Although the couple did not go into specifics behind the reason for their decision, some speculate the name change is a move to bring greater fortune to the family of three.
The couple also acknowledged the name change may be confusing for fans at first.
“It’s OK if you are not used to it, as long as you make the effort to remember it gradually”, they said (translation provided by 8 Days), adding they are still “the same people in everyone’s hearts.”
