Yeo Yann Yann is garnering awards nominations, one after another.

It was announced on Sept 24 that the Malaysian actress has received a Best Performance by an Actress nomination at the 2020 International Emmy Awards for her role in HBO Asia’s series Invisible Stories.

This comes after the 43-year-old was nominated for Best Actress at this year’s Asian Film Awards for the film Wet Season, early this month.

Invisible Stories, available on HBO Go, is a six-part drama set at a fictional neighbourhood in Singapore. One of the occupants is Yeo’s character Lian, a single mother struggling to cope financially and mentally while taking care of her 19-year-old autistic son.

Lian’s life is tested further when the son starts to display aggressive behaviours following the sudden death of his grandmother, who had been his main caregiver.

Other Best Actress nominees in the International Emmy Awards are Emma Bading in Play (Germany), Andrea Beltrão in Hebe (Brazil) and Glenda Jackson in Elizabeth Is Missing (Britain).

Winners for the 2020 International Emmy Awards will be announced Nov 23, 2020. Meanwhile, Asian Film Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Oct 14, 2020.
