Schitt’s Creek

Schitt’s Creek swept the Emmys clean with nine trophies, winning all four comedy acting categories plus for writing, directing and for best overall comedy. It also won two trophies in technical fields.

This Canadian sitcom centres on the rich Rose family who had all their wealth stripped from them and are forced to move to the small town of Schitt’s Creek and live in a motel.

Reruns of Schitt’s Creek Season Five airs every Thursday at 11.25pm on FX HD (Astro Ch 713).

Watchmen

Watchmen earned a total of 11 Emmys! Regina King walked away with outstanding lead actress in a limited series and co-star Yayha Abdul-Mateen II took home outstanding supporting actor.

It also took home best writing and best overall limited series. The show bagged another seven trophies in technical categories.

Watchmen is a superhero drama series based on the 1986 DC Comics graphic novel.

I Know This Much Is True

Based on the novel of the same name by Wally Lamb, I Know This Much Is True follows the life of twin brothers Dominick and Thomas.

The latter suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. Dominick devotes his attention to helping him get better but at the same time, his own life is falling apart.

Mark Ruffalo, who played the dual role of Dominick and Thomas, was named outstanding actor in a limited series.

Succession

Succession succeeded in taking home four awards including the coveted outstanding drama series.

The show is about the Roy family, who run a media conglomerate, and their hunger for power.

Ozark

Ozark’s Julia Garner beat out award favourites like Laura Dern and Meryl Streep to claim the outstanding supporting actress in a drama series trophy.

Ozark is about a financial planner and his family who finds themselves entangled in money-laundering activities and a life of crime.

Ozark is available on Netflix.

The Morning Show

Billy Crudup’s performance as the head of news programming in a TV network in The Morning Show won him the supporting actor in a drama series trophy.

The show explores the workings of a breakfast news programme in the wake of a sexual misconduct scandal.

The Morning Show is available on AppleTV+.

Unorthodox

Unorthodox took home directing honours at the Emmys. The show is about a Jewish woman who leaves her arranged marriage and runs away from her community.

Unorthodox is available on Netflix.

This Is Us

Ron Cephas Jones won outstanding guest actor for his role as a father trying to make amends with the son he abandoned many years ago.

This Is Us is a drama about family relationships, spanning multiple generations.

This Is Us is available on Amazon Prime Video.
