On Sept 15, Syamsul Yusof released his new single titled Satu Kalimah.

Featuring an Islamic theme, the song reminds the listeners to hold steadfast to the teachings of Islam and to be a faithful Muslim.

On Sept 20, Syamsul took to Instagram to talk about the song's lyrics, saying the words he wrote is quite straightforward as he doesn’t want to confuse his listeners, especially the younger ones.

In the over two-minute post, he said: “Listen to the song and read between the lines."

He added: “There are some people who asked why an Islamic song is like this (a rap song) instead of a Nasyid song.

“It’s true Islam is all about peace, but it also asks its followers to always be ready to fight its enemies. So, this song is to fire up that spirit, to be ready for anything.”

Syamsul is also an award-winning director and actor, who has many hit films including the two box office successes, Munafik and Munafik 2.

Recently, Harian Metro reported of a woman at the Islamic Religious Department in Gombak said to be Syamsul’s wife, actress Puteri Sarah. It is not certain why she was at the venue.

Astro Gempak also reported that Puteri Sarah has unfollowed her husband’s Instagram account, citing the last time he posted a family photo was in May.

They have two children together and have been married since 2014.
