Malaysian singer-songwriter Zee Avi's latest project is a collaboration with several Asian and American artistes on a song about overcoming today’s problems.
Rise, features Zee as well as Filipino singers Sam Concepcion and Inigo Pascual, Manila-based producer Moophs, US-based songwriter Vince Nantes and Grammy winner Eric Bellinger.
The song was written by Nantes, who also co-wrote BTS’ song Black Swan.
“As a songwriter myself, I am in love with the lyrics. It makes you question but also leaves a sense of hope for all of us during this time," said Zee in a statement.
She went on to describe the song as "hopeful and uplifting". "'Rise' is such a simple word, yet it’s something that we need to keep reminding ourselves of," added Zee.
Two music videos for the song will be released at a later date. One will be an animated video where the artistes will portray superheroes battling "the 2020 monster" and another video features inspiring stories of humanity and messages of hope from influencers worldwide.
