It may have been a fleeting scene – several seconds of Taiwanese actor Jerry Yan and his washboard abs soaking in a bathtub, deep in thought, but it was one which made waves on the Internet.

The steamy scene from romance drama Count Your Lucky Stars inspired much enthusiastic discussion of the 43-year-old's physique, but it was the toughest scene to shoot for Yan.

Over an email interview, he says: "It may be just a few seconds to the viewer, but I spent around three months getting ready for it. I have to go to the gym with my trainer after filming wrapped everyday, when others are in bed.

"Sometimes, when we wrap late and I still have to train, and I might only sleep for around five hours. This was quite tough to continue over two, three months."

In the series, Yan plays a fashion magazine editor with a seemingly blessed life and Chinese actress co-star portrays Shen Yue a lowly, down-on-her-luck employee at the same magazine. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
