Singer Nassier Wahab dies after battle with gum cancer

Popular 1980s singer Datuk Nassier Wahab breathed his last at 12.45am this morning (Dec 5).

The news was confirmed by friend and fellow singer Zur Eda, according to a report by mStar, The Star's Malay-language portal.

Nassier, 57, had been battling gum cancer for five years. He underwent surgery to remove a growth on his left jaw back in June.

He was receiving follow-up treatment at a hospital in Petaling Jaya when Nassier reportedly vomited blood and died shortly after.

Nassier is best known for hits like Memori Cinta Luka and Sekali Aku Jatuh Cinta.

He is survived by wife Fatimah Abd Rauf, 56, and a daughter, Intan Najihah, 22.
