Hyper-realist Swiss artist Franz Gertsch dies at 92

Swiss hyper-realist painter and graphic artist Franz Gertsch, famed inter alia for his large format pictures of US rock singer Patti Smith, has died aged 92, the museum that bears his name said recently.

"On 21.12.2022, our eponymous artist Franz Gertsch died peacefully at the advanced age of 92," the museum said in a statement on its website.
