7 heroes (and one villain) who defeated Thanos in the comics

Go for the head, Thor. Go for the head!

Despite what he said in Avengers: Endgame, Thanos is NOT inevitable. In fact, he has actually been beaten numerous times in the comics, with AND without the Infinity Gauntlet, and most of the time his ego is the very root cause of his downfall.

So, this begs the question – did Tony Stark really have to sacrifice himself to end Thanos? If not, then here are eight characters whom have beaten Thanos in the past, and could have provided an alternative ending to, well, Endgame.
