When I first heard they were going to be making a musical about Cheras, of all places, I found myself feeling a mixture of disbelief and amusement.
“What next, the Shah Alam Story? Seri Kembangan On Ice?” I joked a week ago. “Are there no other places to make musicals about in Malaysia? Are there going to be songs about ...” And I couldn’t continue, as I genuinely couldn’t recall anything notable about Cheras, a medium-sized township in Kuala Lumpur.
