The last excerpt from Legacy Of Honour shines a light on Malaysia’s third Prime Minister, Tun Hussein Onn, a man ahead of his time and much overlooked by history.
Perhaps if Hussein had emerged as the leader of UMNO and the government in the 1990s and into the twenty-first century, his voice would have had the resonance it deserved. It was the voice of reason, of moderation, of integrity, of respect for the rule of law, of abhorrence for the corruption of politics — all in the mould of old-fashioned values of men of honour, integrity, and duty. Perhaps, like his father, he was a man ahead of his times.
