JULY 15: Great Eastern is calling all yoga enthusiasts to join them for their first “Yoga for Life” event, which is an attempt to enter the Malaysian Book of Records under “The Largest Participation in a Yoga Session”. The event aims to attract at least 2,000 participants, and is open to members of the public aged 12 and above. All proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA). JULY 9-AUG 16: In a two-part exhibition entitled From South China Sea ... To Mount Agung, internationally acclaimed watercolourist Chang Fee Ming celebrates and pays homage to the way of life in two places that he fondly calls home: the north-eastern coast of Peninsula Malaysia and Bali. The exhibition features a combination of his old and latest works which capture his rich encounters with people in these lands – men and women so deeply rooted in their traditions and beliefs, yet pragmatic in making a place for themselves in a fast-changing world. From South China Sea will run from July 9 till August 10, while To Mount Agung will be presented from July 15 to Aug 16. Gallery opening hours: 11am to 9pm.

TILL JULY 1: Indonesian sculptor Ahmad Osni Peii is having a solo exhibition entitled Form Unknown Made, which depicts a series of monumental sculptures influenced by the school of Constructivism. The theory originated from Russia in 1919 with an aim to construct not only beautiful art work but also to bring art into public spaces. Ahmad’ s pieces explore the creation of the universe in an abstract format. Due to the Islamic philosophy, his art creations are non-representational and do not imitate or resemble actual objects. JUNE 25: Founded in 1966, the Queensland Youth Symphony (QYS) is a world class youth orchestra based in Brisbane, Australia. For its performance at DFP, it will present exciting works such as Mussorgsky’s Pictur es at an Exhibition and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.5 – Emperor, featuring pianist Jayson Gillham. They will also be joined by the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra to perform The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, a composition by Dukas. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) Foundation in supporting education, research and innovation. Ticket price: RM70. Time: 8.30pm.

JUNE 29: First AIDS Kit, a charity and awareness project, will be staging three short plays entitled Breathe, Come Back Tomorrow and The Rabbit Hole to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS. Organised by AIESEC Taylor’s University, a local chapter of the global youth organisation AIESEC. Admission is free. Refreshments will be provided. Time 6.30pm to 8pm.
