Tibetan monk Geshela Kuncho Tashi speaks little English, but it has not been a barrier in leading the members of the Sakyamuni Dharma Centre to build a stupa. For the past five months, the learned monk from India has lent his wisdom and expertise in stupa construction, which is steeped in rituals and traditions.
The stupa is Buddhism’s earliest religious monument. It was originally only a simple mound made of mud or clay to cover Buddha’s relics. However, it has since evolved into an object of veneration, bearing multifarious meanings and symbolisms.
