Boutique hotels are an exciting breed of hotels that offer privacy – no more than 100 rooms, personality – individually furnished accommodation, and customised service. These hotels have become intimate enclaves where guests are addressed by name and one has the option of checking in inside the room. 

In an age where customers are on the lookout for something original, themed hotels fit the bill without taking it out on your wallet. In the United States, a standard room at a boutique hotel like Los Angeles’ Mondrian can set you back US$425 (RM1,615) a night but in Singapore, you can get one for as low as S$100 (RM224).
