MALAYSIAN-born artist-musician Karen Nunis Blackstone is interested in what lies beneath the surface. “I’m always exploring the relationship between the conscious and the subconscious, the various layers of perception which are not obvious on the surface. I try to capture the quality of a feeling, to convey that feeling in my art,” she said in an interview recently.
