WHEN Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) was launched, it brought the humble Kancil to the attention of the public. It was a bare bones basic car, a cheap alternative to the then wildly popular Proton cars.
The initial struggle was acceptance by the paying public. After all, Perodua was fighting against an incumbent national car which it sorely wanted the same status from the offset.
