KUALA LUMPUR: Semico Capital Bhd has opened a new family entertainment centre (FEC) at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur, as part of its expansion in the family entertainment business.

In a statement, the family entertainment products and services provider said the wholly-owned centre, located on the mall's lower ground floor, spans approximately 5,640 sq ft and houses more than 40 arcade and amusement machines.

Semico said the centre's location in the city centre, with access to public transport, would allow it to reach local shoppers and international tourists.

Executive director and chief executive officer Tai Lee Chuen said the new centre was designed to cater to a broad range of customers, particularly younger consumers.

He said the company expects the centre to benefit from the mall's existing retail and entertainment traffic.

Tai also expects measures under Budget 2027 to support consumer spending and tourism activities.

He said the increase in personal income tax relief and lower tax rates for selected income brackets could boost household disposable income.

“Meanwhile, the allocation of RM935mil for tourism and cultural activities and the extension of the Visit Malaysia campaign to 2027 could serve as a boost to tourism activities.
