KUALA LUMPUR: Affin Group has appointed Doreen Choo Choy Wan as group chief executive officer of Affin Pheim Asset Management Group, effective Oct 23, 2026.
In a statement, the banking group said Choo would oversee Affin Pheim's growth strategy, focusing on expanding assets under management (AUM), increasing market share and strengthening its institutional and retail businesses.
Her responsibilities will also include enhancing distribution capabilities, securing investment mandates and expanding the group's investment offerings.
Affin Pheim oversees Affin Pheim Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd and Affin Pheim Unit Trusts Bhd.
Choo has nearly 30 years of experience in Malaysia's asset management industry, covering investment management, portfolio strategy and business development.
She holds a first-class honours degree in economics from Universiti Malaya and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
Affin Group president and group CEO Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah said the appointment would support the group's plans to expand its asset and wealth management business.
He said the group aimed to grow its AUM and recurring income streams by leveraging its customer base and distribution network.
The expansion forms part of Affin Group's Axelerate 2028 strategic plan, which focuses on customer service, digital capabilities and responsible banking.
