NexG shareholders approve return to Datasonic Group name

KUALA LUMPUR: NexG Bhd shareholders have approved the company’s proposed name change back to Datasonic Group Bhd at its 18th annual general meeting (AGM).

The company, in a statement, said the name change will take effect upon the issuance of the Notice of Registration of New Name by the Companies Commission of Malaysia.

NexG said the return to the Datasonic name would allow the group to leverage the brand’s existing recognition and business relationships as it seeks to expand its presence in overseas markets.

Executive chairman Datuk Ishak Ismail said the group would continue to focus on its core secure identity business, the execution of existing projects and enhancing its technology and automation capabilities.

“As we expand our international presence, we believe the Datasonic name provides a stronger platform for us to build on our established relationships and pursue new opportunities globally.

“Our focus remains on strengthening our core secure identity business, delivering our existing projects effectively, and enhancing our capabilities through technology and automation,” he said.

At the AGM, shareholders also approved the re-election of directors standing for re-election and the re-appointment of PKF PLT as external auditors.

They also approved a general mandate for the issuance and allotment of shares and renewed the company’s share buy-back authority.

NexG said it would continue to pursue operational efficiency and opportunities to expand geographically and diversify its sources of growth.
