Southern Score wins RM40mil data centre job

PETALING JAYA: Southern Score Builders Bhd (SSBB) has secured a contract from a local construction company to undertake subcontract works for a data centre project in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, worth RM40mil.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, SSBB said the scope of works will comprise the supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning, maintenance and warranty of electrical works.

It said the project commenced on April 1, 2026 and is expected to be completed on April 20, 2027.

SSBB said the contract will not have any immediate effect on the net assets per share and gearing of the company.

“However, the project is expected to contribute positively to the net assets and earnings per share of the company and its group of companies for the financial year ending June 30, 2027 onwards until the completion of the project.

“The board is of the opinion that the project is in the ordinary course of business and is in the best interest of the group.”

Executive director and chief executive officer Gan Yee Hin said the latest award brought the group’s M&E arm’s data centre contract wins to six in 2026, with a cumulative value of about RM528mil.

He said the momentum was supported by the region’s accelerating data centre build-out, which continued to drive demand for electrical works and building systems, areas that played to SJEE’s strengths.

“Our M&E division has been actively replenishing its order book with a steady stream of contract wins in the high-tech and data centre space, such as this latest contract.

“Our construction arm, meanwhile, maintains a healthy order book that it replenishes periodically, most recently with the RM180mil main building works for a private hospital development in Melaka.

“The two run on different project cycles and complement each other well. Together, both engines provide the Group with a well-balanced and healthy order book that underpins our earnings visibility for the years ahead,” he said in a statement.
