PETALING JAYA: Gas Malaysia Bhd
has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Air Liquide Engineering & Construction to explore opportunities in low-carbon hydrogen, carbon dioxide (CO²) off-take and bio-liquefied natural gas (Bio-LNG) in Malaysia.
The MoU, signed on the sidelines of Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, provides a platform for both parties to assess potential projects that bring together Gas Malaysia’s wide market reach and infrastructure advantage with Air Liquide’s global expertise in industrial gas technologies and engineering to address customers’ sustainable energy needs.
In a statement, Gas Malaysia said the collaboration will focus on evaluating and supporting renewable gas initiatives, including Bio-LNG projects, as well as CO² off-take opportunities involving Gas Malaysia and third-party facilities.
The companies will also leverage Air Liquide’s technology for low-carbon hydrogen solutions. In addition, both parties will assess wider prospects that enable industrial decarbonisation and a lower-carbon economy, through advanced engineering and technological solutions.
Gas Malaysia president and group chief executive officer Azli Mohamed said as Malaysia’s energy landscape evolves, the industry needs practical solutions that support decarbonisation while maintaining supply system reliability.
“Through this collaborative framework , the two companies will explore opportunities that combine Gas Malaysia’s market reach and gas infrastructure network with Air Liquide’s global capabilities in technology and engineering to help customers navigate the energy transition.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to expanding beyond conventional gas supply through partnerships that unlock new opportunities in renewable gas, hydrogen and other lower carbon industrial solutions,” Azli added.
The collaboration, aligned with Gas Malaysia’s GM32 strategy, builds on the group’s ongoing decarbonisation initiatives.
Gas Malaysia, a member of MMC Group, said these efforts also support the aspirations of Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap.
