The companies said they had signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on developing, testing and demonstrating potential solutions to real-world business challenges.

KUALA LUMPUR: Tencent Cloud, the cloud business of global technology company Tencent, has partnered U Mobile to explore the development of practical 5G and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for enterprises and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia.

In a joint statement, both parties said they had signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on developing, testing and demonstrating potential solutions to real-world business challenges for industry adoption by combining Tencent Cloud’s AI and cloud capabilities with Ultra5G, U Mobile’s next-gen 5G network, enterprise reach and enterprise innovation platform (EIP).

“The collaboration marks Tencent Cloud’s first official AI-focused partnership with a Malaysian telecommunications provider,” they said.

Tencent Cloud senior vice-president and head of Tencent Cloud International, Poshu Yeung, said the company is looking forward to enabling enterprises, SMEs, and developers to build impactful 5G and AI applications that address real-world business challenges while supporting Malaysia’s digital transformation ambitions.

Meanwhile, U Mobile chief technology officer Woon Ooi Yuen said that through its EIP, the network provider looks forward to turning promising ideas into practical solutions via its “develop, test and demonstrate” pathway, bringing them a step closer to real-world adoption.

“U Mobile and Tencent Cloud will engage businesses, startups, developers, academia and technology partners to co-create, test and validate applications with real-world potential,” said the companies. — Bernama
