Mikro MSC to acquire cable and security systems firm for RM30mil

PETALING JAYA: Mikro MSC Bhd is proposing to acquire cable and security system wholesale firm Broadguard Sdn Bhd (BSB) from Sie Chee Din and Wong Meng Jie for RM30mil.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Mikro said it is principally involved in the electrical and electronics (E&E) business, the biomass fuel business through its associated company, and the signage and interior fit-out businesses.

“The management of Mikro continues to explore suitable business opportunities which are expected to contribute positively to the group’s long-term growth and enhance shareholders’ value.

“In this regard, the proposed acquisition represents a strategic opportunity for the group to expand into the wholesale and distribution of cables and related products, which are primarily used in security and surveillance systems.”

Mikro said BSB’s business operates within the broader E&E products ecosystem and is therefore complementary to the group’s existing E&E business.

“The proposed acquisition will enable the group to broaden its participation in the E&E products value chain by adding wholesale and distribution capabilities to its existing engineering and manufacturing activities.”
