KUALA LUMPUR: West River Bhd
's wholly-owned subsidiary Neutron Power Sdn Bhd has secured Feed-in Approval from Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA) under the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) system for 2026.
The group, which is a provider of electrical engineering and intelligent building solutions, said the approval relates to two small hydropower projects located respectively within Hutan Rizab Bukit Kinta and Hutan Rizab Bukit Tapah in Perak.
The Feed-in Approval covers the total installed capacity, net export capacity and applicable FiT rate for the two projects. The FiT commencement date for the projects is on Aug 17, 2031.
West River is expanding into the renewable energy sctor, in line with its strategy to develop a more diversified and sustainable earnings base through participation in hydropower projects.
According to its statement, the group views hydropower as a strategic long-term growth area, given its role as a reliable source of renewable energy and its potential to contribute towards Malaysia’s transition to a lower-carbon energy mix.
Moving forward, the group will develop the projects in accordance with the relevant regulatory requirements and development timelines.
