PETALING JAYA: Alam Maritim Resources Bhd
’s indirect 50%-owned subsidiary, Subsea Worldwide Solutions Sdn Bhd, has signed a purchase agreement with Deepinfar Ocean Technology Inc to acquire a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) for US$3.24mil (RM13.27mil).
In a filing, Alam Maritim said the acquisition is in line with the group’s business strategy of strengthening its business of providing sub-sea engineering services, operating ROVs and providing saturation diving services – a key driver of the group’s financial performance.
“The ROV acquisition is expected to enhance the group’s operational efficiency and flexibility in servicing multiple projects concurrently across various offshore locations.
“Upon completion of the ROV acquisition, the group will have a total of nine ROVs (out of which three are leased from third parties).”
By increasing the availability of in-house ROV assets, Alam Maritim said the group would be able to reduce its reliance on third-party ROV leasing arrangements, thereby providing greater control over project scheduling, improving operational readiness and reducing recurring leasing costs over the longer term.
