KUALA LUMPUR: Unisem (M) Bhd
is optimistic about its prospects as it moves ahead with efficiency enhancements and cost mitigation measures.
In a filing of its latest quarterly result, the provider of semiconductor assembly and test services acknowledged it faced cost inflation and currency volatility arising from a softer US dollar.
Howerver, it continued to see improving customer demand, supported by ongoing new product qualifications, production ramp-up activities and healthy order momentum.
Unisem posted a higher net profit of RM9.91mil in the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 (2QFY26), as compared to RM9.13mil in the year-ago quarter. This translated to an earnings per share of 0.62 sen against 0.57 sen previously.
Quarterly revenue was also higher at RM570.12mil as compared to RM475.15mil in the same quarter last year.
Despite the quarterly improvement, the group noted that it incurred a net loss of RM3.45mil in the first half period, due to foreign exchange movements and increased operating expenses. Comparatively, the group registered a net profit of RM15.14mil in the first six months of 2025.
Topline grew 15.1% in the first half of 2026 to RM1.03bil from RM898.77mil in the same period in 2025 as sales volume picked up across the group's key operating units.
