FBM KLCI closes lower as regional sell-off, fresh US tariff concerns weigh on sentiment

KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI slipped below the 1,700 psychological level during intraday trade on Friday before recovering to close above the mark, tracking a broad regional sell-off.

Sentiment was further dampened by news of US President Donald Trump's latest Section 301 tariff measures, which fuelled concerns over global trade, although easing oil prices later in the session helped pare losses.

The FBM KLCI fell 13.57 points, or 0.79%, to 1,701.02, after trading within a 13.04-point range between its intraday high of 1,710.80 and low of 1,697.76.
