GFM Services unit secures RM148.2mil contracts for turnaround activities at PIC

KUALA LUMPUR: GFM Services Bhd said its indirect subsidiary, HIMS Integrated Services Sdn Bhd, has received two release orders amounting to RM148.2mil for major turnaround work packages at the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) in Johor.

In a statement, the integrated facilities managements services provider said the release orders from Pengerang Petrochemical Company Sdn Bhd and Pengerang Refining Company Sdn Bhd were secured under the existing Integrated Turnaround Main Mechanical and Maintenance Mechanical Static (TA4MS) contract.

This will be the first major turnaround cycle at PIC since the integrated downstream complex commenced operations in 2019.

The secured work packages are expected to involve a substantial volume of manhours, reflecting the scale and complexity of the turnaround activities, and are expected to contribute positively towards the earnings of the group for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2027.

Ruslan Nordin, group managing director of GFM, said the turnaround is expected to be among the largest of its kind in Malaysia.

“The first major turnaround at PIC represents a sizeable opportunity for our energy division to demonstrate our ability to mobilise large teams, manage complex work scopes and deliver within a highly regulated downstream operating environment,” he added.

According to Ruslan, GFM has evolved from a pure-play facilities management provider into a broader services group with a growing energy division.

"Through strategic acquisitions, we have built a stronger platform, deepened our technical capabilities and expanded our access to large-scale downstream maintenance opportunities.”

The group expects to progressively secure additional work scopes as the turnaround activities advance, and will announce further details as they materialise.
