Place2Stay settlement to lift IAB outlook

PETALING JAYA : Water technology and asset management company Insight Analytics Bhd’s (IAB) resolution of its legal dispute with hotel chain operator Place2Stay Management Sdn Bhd via an amicable settlement is viewed positively by analysts, as it should alleviate potential disruption risks to IAB’s Intelligent Asset Management Solutions (IAMS) segment.

CIMB Research noted in a report that the agreement was formalised through a consent judgment, which was recorded at the High Court of Kuching, Sarawak, on July 1.

Under the settlement, IAB will pay Place2Stay RM4.2mil, representing 50% of the original legal claim of RM8.5mil.

As part of the settlement, IAB will have full rights to use the three source codes that were part of the legal claim, namely the Integrated Construction Site Resources Information Management System, Integrated Smart Hotel Operations, Management and Reservation System and the Centralised Smart Transport Management System.

CIMB Research said it understands that IAB intends to use these three modules mainly for small and medium enterprises and IAMS smaller-scale projects, while continuing to scale up its in-house capabilities and monetise its digital twin partnership with 51World.

“In our view, IAB’s newer in-house IAMS platform and digital twin offerings should strengthen its prospects of securing larger project wins, particularly with government-linked entities, with potential upside to margins and cash collection over time.”

It noted that the IAMS revenue declined 49.9% year-on-year to RM18.4mil in the financial year ended April 30, 2026, with the second half contributing only 17.9% of its full-year IAMS revenue.

“Against this backdrop, we believe the settlement is timely, as it removes a key overhang and allows IAB to refocus on rebuilding its IAMS momentum,” it further added.
