Heineken Malaysia names Datuk Iain John Lo as new chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Heineken Malaysia Bhd has appointed Datuk Iain John Lo as chairman and independent director to its board with effect from Aug 15, 2026.

He succeeds Datuk Sri Idris Jala, who will relinquish the positions on the same date in line with corporate governance practice relating to his nine-year tenure as an independent director.

Idris, at the request of the board, will continue to support the group as an advisor.

In a stock exchange filing, Heineken said Iain spent over 30 years with Shell, culminating in his appointment as the country chairman of Shell Malaysia Ltd, a position he held from 2012 until his retirement in March 2021.

Throughout his tenure with Shell, he held a broad range of leadership roles across the exploration and production, gas and downstream businesses in Malaysia and internationally.

He also served as Chairman of Shell Refining Company (Federation of Malaya) Bhd until the company was sold in 2016.

Iain is a Member of the Board of Guardians of the Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund. He is also an independent non-executive director of RHB Bank Bhd and RHB Investment Bank Bhd, and a board member of Sepang International Circuit Sdn Bhd.
