Generali Malaysia, AmanahRaya launch Gen Sinar

PETALING JAYA: Insurer Generali Malaysia has joined hands with Amanah Raya Bhd (AmanahRaya) to launch Gen Sinar, an affordable personal accident insurance plan aimed at underserved families.

The plan is designed to ensure continuity of children’s education in the event of accidental death or permanent disability of the breadwinner.

Under Gen Sinar, the premium for the first year is RM91.28 and RM59.40 for subsequent years, inclusive of stamp duty (absolute assignment and trust deed) and 8% service tax.

In the event of accidental death or permanent disability of the breadwinner, the plan provides an immediate lump sum payment of RM20,000 to ease financial strain.

This is complemented by a monthly education allowance of RM250 per child until the age of 18, with total education support of up to RM100,000.

In addition, families will receive a complimentary telemedicine consultation benefit to support both physical and mental well-being, as early access to medical advice can make a meaningful difference.

This benefit provides access to qualified healthcare professionals via phone or video call, with up to two sessions per year, each valued at up to RM60, supporting underserved families with timely and affordable healthcare.

All education benefits are administered by AmanahRaya as the trustee.

In a statement, Generali Insurance Malaysia Bhd chief executive officer Fabrice Benard said Gen Sinar is a “purpose-driven social protection initiative built on a non-profit model”.

“We share the aspiration of the community and believe that education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty.

“By making protection accessible to underserved families, we aim to ensure that children can continue their education even in the most difficult circumstances.”

Gen Sinar was developed in response to insights gathered from underserved communities, who are deeply committed to seeing their children excel in education and achieve a brighter future.

Across Malaysia, many underserved households remain significantly underprotected, with limited access to adequate financial protection.

This critical protection gap leaves families highly vulnerable to financial shocks that can disrupt children’s education and perpetuate cycles of hardship.

Recognising these challenges, Generali Malaysia said Gen Sinar aims to help to bridge the gap by safeguarding education continuity and building greater resilience for the future.
