Poh Kong posts higher net profit of RM70.01mil in 3Q

KUALA LUMPUR: Poh Kong Holdings Bhd's net profit for the third quarter ended April 30, 2026 (3Q 2026) rose to RM70.01 million from RM47.60 million in the corresponding quarter last year.

Revenue also increased to RM585.57 million from RM533.93 million previously.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the jewellery retailer said revenue for the quarter under review was RM51.65 million higher than a year ago.

"The increase in revenue was due mainly to the surge in gold price during the quarter under review," it said.

Poh Kong said earnings per share increased to 17.06 sen from 11.60 sen.

On its outlook, Poh Kong said Malaysia's gold jewellery industry showed strong growth and resilience in 2025, supported by local and international demand.

"Despite factors such as inflation and currency fluctuations, we believe that strong central bank buying, consumer spending and safe haven inflows amid global geopolitical uncertainties will continue to fuel demand for both jewellery and gold investment products.

"The group will continuously monitor the impact of the current uncertainties on our operations, uphold and honour our financial obligations and evaluate our performance continuously,” it said.

No dividend was declared for the quarter under review.- Bernama
