KUALA LUMPUR: A delegation of Decathlon representatives from the sporting goods chain's APAC region recently visited its future flagship outlet at 118 Mall, ahead of its opening this year.

According to a statement released by project developer PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd and Merdeka 118,  the delegation included representatives from Decathlon markets across Thailand, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.

The 22,000 sq ft Decathlon outlet on level 2 of the mall is envisioned as a one-of-a-kind premium project and a legacy store for Decathlon Malaysia, bringing together sport, community and lifestyle in a fresh and elevated retail experience.

The store will feature modernised interiors inspired by Songket motifs alongside a refreshed façade and enhanced in-store experience.

Visitors can look forward to personalised services including custom printing and engraving, as well as racket stringing services for badminton, tennis and other sports.

The store will also integrate Decathlon’s omnichannel capabilities, allowing customers to access an even wider range of products and services beyond what is available in-store.

Adlyna Azmi, director of membership and 118 store project owner of Decathlon Malaysia, said: “Across Asia, we are constantly looking at how sport can be made more accessible, engaging and relevant to the communities we serve.

"This store represents a new expression of Decathlon in Malaysia, bringing together innovation, local identity and meaningful sporting experiences in a way that reflects the ambitions of this market.

Datuk Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim, CEO of PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd, said the Decathlon store is a one-of-a-kind premium legacy store.

"As we prepare to open our doors this year, visitors can look forward to discovering a vibrant mix of retail, lifestyle, culture and community experiences unlike anywhere else in Kuala Lumpur.

“From immersive flagship concepts to uniquely Malaysian touches throughout the mall, 118 Mall is being curated as more than just a shopping destination. We are excited for Malaysians and international visitors alike to experience everything the mall and the wider Merdeka 118 precinct will have to offer."

Tenants have begun interior fit outs at the 118 Mall, bringing the lifestyle destination one step closer to welcoming visitors into the heart of the Merdeka 118 precinct.
