KUALA LUMPUR: Weststar Maxus Sdn Bhd and Yinson
GreenTech’s e-mobility business, drivEV, today signed a strategic agreement for the procurement of 300 units of the Maxus eDeliver 5 electric commercial van.
Weststar Maxus serves as the authorised distributor of Maxus vehicles in Malaysia, while the Maxus brand is wholly owned by SAIC Motor Corp Ltd, an automotive manufacturer headquartered in Shanghai, China.
The agreement was signed at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, which was held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, SAIC Maxus Automotive Co Ltd president Yang Haijing, Weststar Group managing director Tan Sri Syed Azman Syed Ibrahim and Yinson Holdings Bhd Group executive chairman Lim Han Weng.
Weststar Maxus chief executive officer Syed Muhammad Ammar said the partnership reflects both companies’ commitment to supporting the electrification of the commercial vehicle segment.
"The Maxus eDeliver 5 is purpose-built for the future of logistics, and we are proud to collaborate with Yinson GreenTech in supporting businesses as they transition towards cleaner and more sustainable mobility solutions,” he said.
Yinson GreenTech managing director of electric vehicle (EV) charging and leasing, Kelvin Soon, said the collaboration would help fleet operators transition to EVs through leasing and charging solutions.
"We have a strong track record of helping businesses transition to electric through our comprehensive EV leasing options, smart charging infrastructure and proprietary digital fleet intelligence solutions, while helping the commercial logistics and transport sector achieve sustainable and efficient last-mile delivery,” he said.
The Maxus eDeliver 5 is equipped with a 64-kilowatt-hour battery offering a driving range of up to 335 kilometres under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) standard and has a payload capacity of up to 1,200 kilogrammes.
Following the signing ceremony, Weststar Maxus also showcased several models at KLIMS 2026, including the Maxus eDeliver 5, Maxus T60 facelifted diesel pickup, Terron 9 pickup, eTerron 9 electric pickup and V90 Window Van. - Bernama
